chez.geek.nz is the home of Catherine Allen. I'm a 30-something professional computer programmer whose professional focus is Java and C++ on Solaris and Linux, specializing in SS7. Hobbies include pottering around in the garden, lego and World of Warcraft as well as embarking on crazy projects like creating a home HD PVR.

Projects

I'm currently working on building a HD PVR using a custom built quiet PC and MythTV, and also on getting our weather station functioning again after ripping apart the PC it ran on to make the PVR.

Lego

I have many lego sets, ranging from the super large Eiffel Tower to the smaller Fort Legoredo.

Photographs

I have a couple of cameras, a Nikon D70 DSLR and a Sony DSC-W15 compact digital. I've had some fun taking photographs with them; nothing professional, but fun all the same. The photo album software used to display the images was written by me several years ago and is a "work in progress".

World of Warcraft

I play World of Warcraft a few hours each week, mostly raiding 10-man Ulduar with my guild. I have three L80s; two druids and a warrior.
